Privacy,
in plain language.

This notice explains what information the JD Eells website receives, why it is used, and what choices you have.

01

Information collected

If you use the contact form, the site receives the details you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, subject, and message. If you join Dispatches from the Dark, the site receives your email address and your subscription consent.

Please do not send sensitive personal information through either form.

02

How information is used

Contact-form information is used to read and respond to your inquiry. Dispatches information is used to send the occasional updates you requested and to manage your subscription. Information may also be used to protect the forms from spam or misuse.

JD Eells does not sell the personal information submitted through these forms.

03

Hosting, browser storage, and outside links

This website is hosted through Wix, which processes site and form data as part of providing the website service. The interactive Archive uses session storage in your browser to remember which fictional clues you have opened; that progress normally disappears when the browser session ends.

Links to Amazon, Goodreads, Instagram, and Google services take you to providers with their own privacy practices. This notice does not control what those sites collect after you leave jdeells.com.

04

Advertising measurement

The site uses a Google Ads tag to measure visits associated with advertising and whether a visitor clicks a link from The Hunt to Amazon. The tag may receive technical information such as the page visited, browser or device information, referral information, and advertising identifiers. It does not report whether a visitor completes a purchase on Amazon.

Advertising-personalization signals are disabled in the site’s Google tag. The measurement is used to understand whether the campaign brings interested readers to the book page and Amazon.

05

Your choices

You can control or clear cookies through your browser settings and manage Google advertising choices through My Ad Center. You can unsubscribe from Dispatches by using the unsubscribe option included in an email. To ask about, correct, or request deletion of information you submitted through this site, use the contact form and describe the request.

06

Younger visitors

Some JD Eells books are written for younger readers, but the website forms are not intended to collect personal information from children under 13. A parent or guardian should send any inquiry on a younger reader’s behalf.
